Chainsaw Safety Certification. Certified through
Enform, this three day course involves 24 hours of instruction, incorporating practical field exercises
and classroom instruction. This course concentrates on chainsaw
applications for seismic line production. Certification is valid
for three years across Canada and is currently the only chainsaw
certification accepted in the geophysical industry.
Courses
include the following components: Safe chainsaw
handling, chainsaw maintenance, personal protective equipment,
chainsaw safety devices, bucking/limbing, types
of cuts, fire prevention/suppression, dangerous falling/bucking, emergency evacuation procedures, low impact seismic
and heliportable. There is also a hands on practical component
for demonstration and application of lecture materials in both
chainsaw safety courses.
In April of 2005 the oil and gas industry adopted the new BC
Faller Training Standard as the standard level of training for

the following courses for new fallers to meet BC Faller
Standards:

This three-day course covers instruction in personal and
worksite safety; hazard assessment and control; chainsaw

days field experience after completion of Level I.
This five-day course covers theory and practical training in
falling operations and preparation; management of falling
